The case

Orant Charities, a US non-profit working in rural Malawi, wanted its supporters to see its work without travelling there. We built a Malawi village in Mozilla Hubs that you explore across five scenes, with signs on the projects running there and their success stories. In four of the scenes you can walk your avatar into a dome where a looping 360° video shows the real projects. In the central scene, an auditorium with spatial audio carries the voice of whoever is on stage, for live talks. It runs in a browser or a VR headset. It won the Crystal Owl for Best Educational XR Experience at Stereopsia LATAM 2021 and was a finalist at Australia’s Qld XR Festival.
